Importance of Nursery Education by Mrs. Jesudijo
Education has been defined by many scholars in different ways and in different contexts. A few of such definition includes:
Education is a process that starts with birth and ends at death.
Education is the sum total of the culture which a society deliberately gives its younger generation in order to qualify them and raise the level of improvement it has attained.
Education is the totality of life experiences. It is the process of developing knowledge and
ability in learner for personal and societal enhancement.
Nursery Education is an education of the very young children (generally 5 years of age and younger).
This early childhood care and education place a strong emphasis on developing the whole child, attending to his or her social, emotional, cognitive, and ‘physical needs in order to establish a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
“Care” includes health, nutrition, and hygiene in a warm, secure and nurturing environment.
Education for young children helps them to excel academically and socially. With exposure and organized lesson plans, children can learn anything they want to. The tools they learn to use during this beginning year will provide lifelong benefits to their success.
Early childhood education often focuses on learning through play. Children’s curiosity and imagination naturally evoke learning when unfettered. Because learning through play will allow a child to develop cognitively.
Nursery education helps to develop children’s inner skills, develop his/her personality, and also help a child to inculcate positive feeling. It also focuses on teaching social etiquettes and manners and also provides various activities for children to expose their inner talents.
Nursery school education also emphasizes on innovation and motivation. These two factors play a great role in the life of the children for all-round development of child’s personality. Innovative teaching/learning strategy is highly required because if the nursery schools are not able to motivate and be innovative, the whole education system will be derailed.
In real sense, an effective teaching/learning process depends on the efficient implementation of motivational and innovative traits.
Nursery school education also prepares the children for primary and future schools, and also to build a base.
Children are the world’s most valuable resources and its best hope for the future, so the key to nursery education is to provide children with a warm, safe, clean environment where they feel comfortable to explore.
